Course Description

Food Botany is the study of the plants that are used for food production and the science of how they grow. It includes the study of the plants' biology, their history, and how they are cultivated. There will be a lab component to this course as we will be looking at the parts of plants and propagating our own

1-2 hours a week

Required Materials: 3 ring binder with notebook

Provided Materials: Botany: The Food We Eat Workbook

Suggested Material: I will be using Food Anatomy by Julia Rothman & The Big Bad Book of Botany by Michael Largo as my main resources for this course. Although not required, if your student benefits from visual aids and reference materials I would suggest they secure a copy of these books. They would also be useful for their monthly presentations.
